HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT.
CONCERNING THE MATRON. At ono stage of yesterday's meeting of the Wellington Hospital- and Charitable Aid Board a sharp discussion took place as to whethei-or not the board should go into committee to receive the report of a special committee which had been set up to make pertain inquiries into internal management. . The chairman (Mr. .Tas. Trevor) intimated that he thought it was best to go into committee to receive the report as things might be said that perhaps should not be said for publication. Mr. Fletcher: I think we should take, the report in open, board—it is a report from a special committee to the full I,onl ' (] - , r, ■ , , ir Rev. H. Van Staveren: I think, too, Mr. Chairman, that we should not go into committee. This is a report to the board. Mr. D. Robertson (to Mr. Van Staveren): Ton want us to be the fame as Auckland —is that what you want? You only want to see vour name, in the newspapers. The chairman: Well, I'm in_ tho hands of the board—whatever you decide. On a motion being put it was decided to go into committee. The report of the special committee, which was subsequently confirmed in open board, was as follows:—"The committee betrs to report that no evidence having been brought before the committee in support of allegations made against the conduct of the matron, and having received the explanation of the matron regarding the issue of application forms for employment as probationers which had been inadvertently left uncorrected as to the question of religion, this committee is of opinion that there are no grounds whatever for the unfavourable, reflections passed upon the administration of the matron."
