Eastern advices state that tho Timor (Malay Archipelago) rebellion is still in progress, but that the Portuguese authorities havo a great body of rebels penned in the valley with no chance of escape. Many of the leaders of the revolution have been beheaded. The causes of the rebellion are the imposition of taxes and restrictions of the powers of the chiefs.
