As an exemplification of the progress of dairying in the northern portion of Taranaki, a return of the working of the North To ran aki Dairy Company to the end of April gives an idea of how the land is being brought into use by the farmer. For tho year muled June 30, 101J, 32-1,6141b. of butter were miinufactiired, whilst for ten months ended April 30, 1912, 351,9561b. were made, an increase ot 27,3421b., or 12 tons 3J cwt., increase, with two months to go. For the perm ended April, 1912, as compared with 191, an increase is shown of 20 tons i) ; cwl» Suppliers have now received .£2009 Is. bd. more for their milk than for the same period last vear, or .£1397 more than tor the whole of the preceding twelve months,tho amount paid for 1911 being ' f - Sd., whilst for the ten months of the current year they have received .612,721 9s. 9d. Comparing tho months of April, sujv pliers' cheques amounted in 1911 to £ib< lis. 7d„ whilst for 1912 £1093 12s. 7d. has been paid, an increase of -£345 ISs. Butter made: 1911, 22,1151b.; 1912, 30,8561b., an increase of 3 tons 18 cwt. 2qrs.
