Parliament, in order to retain Labour confidence, must show a greater readiness to look at tilings from Labour's viewpoint. Tho next great step must bo a legal minimum wage. STRIKE OF FREIGHT HANDLERS, (Rec. May 19, 5.5 p.m.) New York, May IS. A strike of freight handlers throughout the United States is threatened, foil-awing a refusal to increase wages. THE STRIKE EPIDEMIC. (Rec. May 19, 5.5 p.m.) Tokio, May 18. A hundred lepers working for French monks at 'the Leper Hospital at Karacvania, struck for an increase of pocket money. Some of them escaped from tho hospital, but were recaptured. PROTEST AGAINST A STRIKE. Sydney, May 18. A meeting of Lithgow trades unionists protested against the proposal to hold a one-day strike unless the imprisoned strikers are released.
