THE "SLIMEHOTJSE" SPEECH, By Teteeraph-Preas Association-Copyright. London, May 17. The Opposition papers criticise Mt. Lloyd-George for what they describe as his "slimehouse" speech. They point out liis ignoranw) of history, and that his assaults on the rich* aristocracy have nothing to do with, the transferring of property from an active Welsh Church to county councils; also that his argument that Church property prior to the Reformation belonged to the Roman Catholics is answered by Mr. Asquith's contention that the Protestant Church has a legal continuance.
Some of the Nonconformist Liberals have informed the "Whips that though they voted for Disestablishment, they are opposed to the disendowment clauses, and particularly the allocation of religious money to specific secular purposes.
