HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our Spccial Correspondent.) 4 PARK AND TROTTING CLUB. A special meeting of tho Hutt_ Park Committee was held last evening for the purpose of discussing recent resolutions hi regard to the Hutt Valley Trotting Club putting down a track on tho park. The Trotting Club objected to the following clauses:—Clause 5, in regard to certain restrictions to trainers; clauso 9, that no liquor be 6old on the park; and clause 11, that the committee would not be responsible for tho re-erection of tho buildings. Tho Trotting Club pointed out that these clauses were impracticable, and, in tho ease of clause !i, frivolous. The agreement was drawn up by the chairman and secretary.
Mr. Brocklebank moved, and Mr. M'Kwan seconded: "That the action of the chairman and secretary be endorsed."
Tho mover mentioned, inter alia, that, the agreement embodied the resolutions of tho committee.
3h - . M'Kwau said that tho Trotting Club were asking too much. The.v wore absorbing eleven acres, and wanted a lot of improvements. Mr. Burridge was of opinion that if clause 9 were not deleted, tho Trotting Club would not entertain tho offer.
Mr. M'Kivan: That's all nonsense. What profit could tho Trotting Club expect to get out of the sale of liquor? Mr. Organ thought that the matter should ■ have been left to the Licensing Committee.
After further discussion Ihe motion wua carried.
