Present indications n,re for strong westerly winds, with a southerly tendency, but probably backing again and increasing for a more extensive westerly storm area, due in the south on Sunday ovening. Expect unn?ttled and cloudy weather, with rain generally. The barometer rising temporarily in the south, but falling again soon. A low-pressure ■ area passed in t.lw south duriiij* the night, strong northerly winds changing by west to" southerly in tho soujhern districts, with misty and cloudy weather, and rain in parts. May 17.—Tho weather is mild, but dull; inclined to be windy. Mastcrton, May 17.—A mild, spring-like day was experienced hero to-day. The Tararua ranges are almost free from snow. Hasting?, May 17.—T0-day has been fine.
