LACROSSE.
[Br Point.] Laat Saturday at Ihippa Street ItssoTve the Proud Cup contests ¥«-« continued. Wellington wore defeated by Capitol to the tunc of 7 goals to 1. Tho game does not call for much oomtnent. During the first half Wellington unexpectedly mads Ihings very merry for Capitol, Davis scorin" early in tho game, and.. Cnpitol did not equalise matters until just on tho en 11 of half-time. On resumption of play tlio Wellington defence seemed to go lo nieces, and Capitol put on six more goals, although there was hnrdly a decent shot amongst them. The play was scrappy in the extreme, duo no doubt to the fact of tiioro being ft number of inexperienced players, who seemed to havo tho idea that (■ho game is to hit the tell along tho ground, n-s is done in hoe.liey. These players should endeavour to become more proficient in stick work. Tho TCcnkin brothers are a tower of strength in tho Capitol team. llowon, ineoal for Wellington, wns weak, and should have stopped most of tho shots scored against him. The Columbia v. Kelbnrna game was uninteresting, and the latter scored an e.isv win. Columbia were without the wvic«s of some of their most oxperiplavers. Why are the Blacks so apathetic this season? Merer. who skippod the Wellingron team n „Virist Auckland last year, has returned to SvcUicy, and is playing the game there. To-day Wellington plays kelburue, and Columbia plays Capitol.
