VERY LOW RATE OP INTEREST. By Telesrsph—Press AfSociation-Copj-right London, May 15. New South Wales has issued two millions worth of twelve months' 3i per cent. Treasury bills. Tho whole was absorbed yesterday. "The Times" comments on the very low rate of interest.
INTENDED FOR PUBLIC WORKS. (Rec. May 17, U a.m.) Sydney, May IC. The Treasurer, Mr. M'Gowan, explains that the loan floated in London is intended to cover the authorised loan expenditure on public works and other general purposes.
