FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Wellhifr ton City Council was hold last night. There wore present the Mayor IJII JJ. M'Larcn), and Councillors K. I'lelcner, 0. B. Fitzgerald. A. ■ H. Hmdnwrsh, K. A. Cameron, .1. Fuller, jimr., \\. H. j. Barber, L. J, Godbor, A. U, Atkinson, J. Trevor, G. Frost, 1. Cohen, and J. Smith. . . The Tramway Committee reported that thev had considered the question of the publication of the statement of- accounts and the compilation ot the year book, »fr ferred to in Councillor I'tillers no hoe of motion, and had to recpmmonuthat these matters be left in the hands of the lowa Clerk to arrange. • , Increases were granted nt salary to the manager and the caretaker of the municipal abattoir, of .€25 and JM respeo'"ftns decided that Mr. 1,. S.Drato should be appointed to the position of motor inspector at U per week, and tlnO. Ah- W. F. Coffey's salary bo increased from M 6s. to .i' 3 12s. Gd. per week.
