Advice has been received of tho death nt Auckland last week of Mr. T. Hab, who was recently postmaster at Mnrtinborough. Tho Feathorstan Golf Club will play r match against tho Greylown Club at Featherston on Saturday. _Mr. ,T. G. Wilson, president of the Farmers' L'nion, will deliver an address to farmers at: Featherston on Saturday afternoon next.

The average attendance at tho local public school for the past mouth was KM out of a roll number of 157.

Tho l'c'Uherston Literary and Debating Society commenced its season on .Tuesday night, when thero was a good attendance. Readings were given by Messrs. J. W. Card, W. G. Miller, !•'. Bladen, and W. Sovenscu, and the remainder of (lie evening was iiiied in with impromptu speeches on subjects allotted by ballot.
