AMERICAN FOREST FIRES.
MANY LUMBER MILLS DESTROYED. By Teleeraph—Press Association-Oopyrislit. New York, May H. At Portland, Oregon, twenty-four square miles of timber was burned through forest fires. In the Oregon and Washington States many lumber mills have been destroyed. Several Tillages are threatened. There are large forces of fire-fighters at work. MANY LOGGING CAMPS WIPED OUT. (E«c. May 15, 11 p.m.) Ottawa, May 15. The dry weather started numerous forest fires in the. Western States and in various parts of British Columbia. Many logging camps have been wiped out and tho business Bection of the town o' Seaside, a summer resort in Oregon, was destroyed. Hundreds aro homeless. The total damage runs into millions of dollars.
