YEAR'S FINANCES MARSHALLED. (By Telceraph— Siicclal Correspondent.) Wanganui, May 14. A supplementary camp for members of tho 7th Regiment, who were unable to attend the training camp nt Kakariki recently, will open on Thursday next and will last ten days. It had been intended to hold this camp on the Putiki Rifle Range, but the ground has been found to Iμ so wet after tho recent raitis that the venue has been altered to Smithfield about two miles out of Wangnnui, and a similar distance from Castleelift".
The tramway returns for thu month of April show that tho system continues to make tho same steady progress as has marked it sinco its inception. The number of passengers carried for tho month was 132.G95, as against 128,078 in April, 1911, Tho revenue for tho month was iMUO 175., as against £$te 12s. for the game month last year.
The annual report of the Town Clerk shows that the debit balance of the Wanganui Borough Council has increased from =£12,279 to .£15,531. The year's revenue from tho Opera House was a record, being .CIIGS 15s. and tho profit, after paying working expenses, interest, and sinking fund, is .£159195. The gas works opened the year with o credit of £2ib7 10s,, of which .£2OOO was transferred to the general account and the year closed with <a debit of .£1946 Bs.. this being due chiefly to the fact that extensions to plant and premises costiiiß MtWl Ds. were paid out of revenue. But for this there would have been a credit of over jCSOOO. The year's operations of tho tramways resulted in a profit of JC3OO 55., the debit of £2Gfl with which tho year opened beinsr now turned into a credit of £% 10s." sd. '
