PERFUNCTORY EXPLORATION. By Telcffraph—Press Association-Copyrieht (Rec. May 15, 0.40 a.m.) Tokio, May 14. Commissioner Shirase, who was in command of the Japanese expedition to tho South Pole, gives a glowing account of Antarctic exploration work, but Tada, the secretary of the expedition, declares that no dash to the Pole was attempted. Exploration was limited to a fortnight and was of a perfunctory nature. The expedition split up through jealousies.
