Commissioner Shirase, who was in command of the Japanese expedition to tho South Pole, gives a glowing account of Antarctic exploration work, but Tada, the secretary of the expedition, declares that no dash to the Pole was attempted. Exploration was limited to a fortnight and was of a perfunctory nature. The expedition split up through jealousies.
