Dr. Donald, a New Zealandor, was charged with stealing jowellery from a lady occupying a flat above Donald's. The prosecutrix stated that she eaw a hand inserted and open the window and abstract tho jewellery from the table. Dr. Donald stated that he heard a woman stream, and rushed to the assistance of the lady, who accused him of stealing, and had him arrested.

The magistrate, in acquitting- the accused, expressed sympathy with Dr. Donald.
