CARTERTON ITEMS.

At a meeting of the General Committee of the South Wairarapa Poultry Associition (Air. 1!. J. Chapman presiding in tho absence of the president), it was deci'Jcd to ask Mr. A. G. Mumby, of Silverstrea'n, to judge the utility class at the furthcoming show. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P., patron, and Mr. W. 3. Martin, a vicepresident, for donations to tho funds. The Hastings Society wrote, agreeing that Mr. W. J. Hemsworth, of Sydney, should judge poultry. Mr. W. Bailey, of Wellington, wrote, consenting to judge pigeons. It was decided to arrange for liens from Wellington and Palmerston North. The North Island Association wrote in reply to a letter from this association, stating that the championships having already been allotted in groups, it was not possible to give Carterton ouo for old English game. The question will be dealt with at the next annual meeting of tho association. Mr. H. Huntley was elected a member. The Carterton Gnn Club lias arranged to hold a match on Thursday afternoon next for trophies presented by Mcssts. AV. Redmond and Mr. D. MacGoun. The Carterton Bowling Club intended playing the final game for the season on the green on Thursday afternoon next. If the weather is unfavourable the green will lie closed for the winter. On. inquiry on Monday it was learned that the condition of Mr. A, Cadwallaclcr, who was badly burned iu a mobr-car Occident on Friday night, was a little easier, but his condition is stili such as to causa some anxiety.
