MERCHANTS' ASSISTANTS.
MOTION TO JOIN FEDERATION OF LABOl'I!. A. meeting of the MerclKiiiLs' Assistants' Union was hold last evening, Mr. J. Mee, prbsident, being in the chair. A report on the position of tlio union was read bv the secretary and adopted. The secretary in his report expressed the opinion that tho Employers' Association, bv its tactics of forcing the council to obtain an opinion from the Arbitration Court on the mode of procedure, had delayed tho case for a considerable period. Tlio' union was determined to continue organising nniil an award had been procured from the Court. Thirty-four new members ioined the union during I lie eour.-e of (lie monih, ten leaving on elearanee, mid three resiuniiiß.
