EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

$ —:— A meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council was held on Saturday evening 'hero being present th-e Mayor (Mr. 11. W. Shortt) and Councillors Button, Morris, Organ, and Wills. Leave of absence was granted to Councillors I'ilcher and Boss, The Palmer-ton North resolutions with reference to the Minister for Defence were endorsed. It was arranged that the Mayor and Councillors should inspect the borough nest Saturday afternoon. A special mee-tftig is to he called to consider estimates and rates for the year, also to discuss matters corcerning the ferry service. It has been decided to extend the ireeplautations this season. Some discussion took place as to more strict conditions in the building by-laws. Councillor Organ has given notice of motion on this matter for the forthcoming municipal conference. In the meantime 110 second-hand timber is to bo allowed in buildings anil all permits are first to be subject to the approval of the liuildin'g Committee.
