» —•— SOUTH AFRICA'S PROBLEM. By felegraph-Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. May 12, 5.5 p.m.) Cape Town, May 11. The Union Assembly has debated tho motion by Sir. Thomas Sronrtt, Leader of the Opposition, in favour of an inquiry into the recent native assaults. Sir Thomas Smortt stated twenty firms who were engaged in illicit liquor-selling were largely responsible for the assaults. The Prime Minister, General Botha, declared that the time was coining when they must seriously consider whether they should not prevent the intermingling of whites and natives. Ho promised that a commission would fully investigate tho question. - ■" '■ i
