A meeting of tho Tainui Junior Football Club was held on Thursday ereninsr, when there was a very good attendance of playing members and others. Mr. J. it. fiills occupied the chair. It was decided to accept the same officers, as iar as possible, as the Benior club, to have the same colours, and to compete for championship honours, if not too late to be admitttS. Election for the position ot captain was held in abeyance, while Messrs. Cootes, Mann, and Whata were elected a selection committee. . The local Bowling Club has lamed a challenge to the loeat Quids' Lodw for a euchro tournament to be held on Wettn<f\\o~R<iY. Joshua Jones will preach at tho Church of England on Sunday morning. It is expected the churcii will be more than comfortably filled. As the result of combined efforts, tho local iockey clubs have m hand £2b ws. towards tho erection of ft dressing-slied. Between £h and M more is needed. Mi. and Mr 3. Nicliolson (the latter a sister of Mrs. F. With Mrs. Brown and son a lengthy holiday will do spent in the City of tho Plaias. The death occurred at Naseby on Tuesday of Mr. James Young, father of Mr. J. Young, of this town. . Hockey is making rapid progress m this district, and 13 teams are competing foT championship honours.
