BORING FOR OIL.
SOME EULES AND REGULATIONS. A proclamation in the Gazette, issued last evening, makes portions of the Mining Act, 1908, and of the regulations made, under that Act. applicable to prospecting and mining 'for,'and the storage of, mineral oils, in certain specified areas. The provisions of the Mining Act _to which the proclamation refers deal with such matters as the appointment of inspectors, the issue of prospecting war-T&nt-s, and mineral leases, and powers to deal with dangerous or defective ~mi nes or equipment. The areas to.' which tho provisions and regulations arc to apply are scheduled as follow:— All that area in the Hawke's Bay Land District contained in the Survey Districts of Mangalu, Waingaromia, Mangatoro, and Weber. All that area in the Taranaki Land District, bounded towards Hie north genernily by the Molcau liiver from the sea to ths Tahnmataroa Stream; thence by that stream to the eastern boundary of MokauMohakalino No. lit Block; thence towards the east by the said eastern boundary to the south-eastern boundary of the-'said Moknii-Mohakntiim Xo. In Block; thenco towards the south-east by a right line to the easternmost corner of tho town'of Mitlhurst; thence towards tho south-west by the said town of Midhurst to its northernmost corner; thenco by a right lino to the mouth of the Pitoue Stream; and I hence towards 'lie north-west by the sea to the month of tho Mokau Jlivc'r, the place of commencement . All that area in the Wellington Land District contained in the survey district of''Mount Cerberus. ' All that area in the Wostlnnd land District contained in the .survey districts of Brainier, Waimea, llohojiu, and Arnold.
