MAKURI FARMERS' UNION.
ANNUAL SIKKTING. The annual meeting of (he Makurn branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held on. Saturday evening last, Mr. Vj. C. Tylee occupyi.nj; tho chair. Tho secretary reported that five old members had sold out and left ihe district, and only one member had not paid his subscription. I-'ivo new members had joined the branch. On fourteen miles of road between Jlnknri and Coouonr all the settlers with only one exception were members of the union. The cue was a new settler, and might come in Inter. There was -:i substantial baiunce, which was increasing every vcar. The following officers were elected:— Chairman, Jlr. W. K. C. Tyleo; vicechairman, Mr. M. Coom; auditor, Mr. T. Wilson; secretary ami delegate,-Jlr. W. J. Moore; committee, Messrs. ]7. A. 'Wilson, .1. Wright, 0. .Tenniisj.'s, C. Parsons, Tins. Whitta, A. (i. H. Crawford, J. W. Perry, i\ lihodcs, T. Kenne, and 11. Comvay.* Three remits were, drafted for tho conference on Local Government Bill,
