The liabilities arc set down at anil lGs. 10(1., and the assets at £29. , The Pnlmerston Hotel and Restaurant 'Workers' Union lias decided in favour of Professor Mills's unity scheme. The Palmerston Bowling Club has now closcd both its greens for the season, and is having them top-dressed. The executive of the Manawatu Employers' Association met this afternoon, Mr. E. L. Broad presiding. Considerable discussion took place on the various laws affecting employers, and it was resolved that, at the next meeting, sub-eomiiiitteos should be set up to go thoroughly into matters affecting employers. Fourteen now members were elected. At a mooting of the Ilinemoa Ladies' Hockey Club last evening Misses Beaton and Ross were presented with gold brooches in appreciation of their services to the club as secretary and treasurer respectively. The Rev. T. T. Thomas presided over the monthly meeting of the Campbell Street School Committee last evening. The headmaster (Mr. l'\ E. Watson) reported the present roll at 735, and the average attendance CSI. The treasurer reported that the school fund now stood at- .£55 l!]s. Id. The report of the visiting committee was adopted, and Messrs. C. Eraser, A, Pickering, and A. E. Clausen were ap. pointed to supervise the drainage works about to be carried out. If was resolved to arranqo to canvass for subscriptions towards the construction of the proposed swimming baths at the school. The amount required to be raised is .C 450. . The parishioners of St. Voter's Church at a meeting have pledged themselves to procecd with the scheme for the erection of a new clmrch at a cost of ,£BOOO. A sum of <EIOOO is at present in hand and an activo canvass is to l:o made to raise the balance. It is hoped to have tlie necessary funds to commence the work in a couple of years.
