SUBURBAN RAILWAY SERVICE.
Sir,-Whilst there is no doubt the residents of l.owcr Hutt and I'elouc appicciaie the accelerated I rain ,-ervici' now ill force, it is somewhat amusing to read that .Mr. M'Villy graciously accepts the thanks ol the community through die medium of a "-c!i-iiJipoiliteil dep.il'ifion, and expres-es tile remark that it is the lirst cose on record where the Kaii'.v.iy .Department had been thanked for i'liv(hin:; it had done to meet die desires of die travelling public. The thanks of the travelling public are hardly imvj '.0 the Department for an alteration m timetable which should have been made some two years ago, when (lie double lilii; came into operation. For months past, many of us have been trying to hummer into hide-bound oilici.ildiim the necessity of such an alteraii in, which I maintain should have been occomnlished without unduly (axing (lie mental' capacity of those in authority. Till; suburban residents will, i think, have no hesitation in realising (0 whom their thanks are due. and that is to the Don. A. M. Mvcrs. the new Minister for Kail ways, who being a live aliil up-to-dato business man, has the capacity 01 snowing where reforms are most needed, a and wi>o will 110 doubt not hesitate to wing his administrative ability to bear on the management of a Stale Department under his control, which has up to the present shown little regard for the mivenienw; of the travo linn public. —I mi, cic DAILY TIiAVKI.I.Ki!. l.owcr Hutt, May -, 191 S.
