CATHOLIC GLEE CLUBS.
AUCKLANDEKS ON TOUR. A party of members of the Auckland Catholic Glee Club, who are making a tour of the Dominion, arrived in Wellington yesterday, and were welcomed by the Wellington Catholic Glee Club. In tho evening the visitors were entertained by tho Wellington Club at a social gathering. Mr. J. M'Gowan presided, and among thoso prcscjit wero the Rev. Fathers Venning and Herring, S.M.'s. The chairman stated that the northern club were undertaking n tour of New Zealand, during which a series of concerts would be given under tho management of Mr. P. Clarke. The following toasts wore proposed: "The Pone and the King," by the chairman; "Wellington Catholic Club," Mr. F. Adeane. responded (o by Mr. W. C. Thomas; "Federated Clubs," by Mr. P. J. M'Govern, responded to by Mps?ts. TT. M'Keowen and .T. L. Leydon; "The Olergv," Mr. G. Butcher, responded lo by the Her. Fathers Venning and Tlerrinsr, S.M.'s; "Kindred Societies," by Mr. J. .T. Sullivan, responded to by Messrs. J. W. Callnglion and P. D. TToskins. on behalf of the H.A.B.C.S. _ During the evening the following contributed items:—Messrs. E. Healy, E. B. T.. Kendo. F. Bourke. T. Txmergan, S. Pritchard, E. Foote, and 0. Foot®. The object of the Glee Club is to stimulate interest in Catholic societies in Ken; Zealand by giving a nerios of concerts, and at the same time to provide sufficient funds for the appointment of a paid otganiser for Catholic clubs throughout Now Zealand.
