At the Koombana inquiry, counsel for the owners declared that it was probable the Koombana had struck a hidden danger on a part of the coast where she was lost, which had been imperfectly surveyed. He commented on the fact that the Bedout light, which was not a residential lighthouse, had been out since March 30.
