Tho eount last night showed that No. 25. in Gallery 1, "The Green Gown,' still comes easily first, with 313 votes; and then followed No. 57, in Gallery 2, Passago of tlic Red Sea," with 187 votes; No. 110, in Gallery 2, "Goblin Market, with 180 votes: No. 37, in Gallery 3, "September in tho Highlands," with 1(0 votos; No. S3, in Gallery .2, "Tho Card Players," with 160 votes; No. 132, in Gallery 2, "The Tower Bridge," with 158 votos; No. C J3, in Gallery 2, "Waiting tor Darkness," with 144 votes; No. 25, in Gallery 2, "Once Upon tt Time," with 137 votes;' No. 54, in Gallery 1, "Bolton Abbey," with 182 votes; No. 105, m Gallery 2,'"The Minuet." with US votes; No. 6'-, in Gallery 2, "Homo from tho Sea, wuh 117 votes; and No. 42, in Gallery 2, A Mill in Normandy," with 114 votes. It has been decided to hold n stfee.. collection in connection with the National Gallery movement on Saturday week, May 18, for the purpose of enabling the great bo'dv of citizens, who do not feel ill a position to subscribe their guineas and half-guineas, to help, with their halfcrowns and shillings. The lady memhers of the Arte Club have intimated that thev will heartily co-operate, and it is hoped, with (he assistance of other lady sympathisers, to have a strong band of collectors at work. As tho National Art Gallery will bo an institution essentially for the benefit of the people as a whole, it is confidently anticipa ed that, the response from the general public will be v°ry considerable.
