SUMMARY ANtf FORECAST. Present indications aie for. increasing south-easterly winds fa and northward of Cook Strait, and for strong southerly winds elsewhere. A storm area appears to be developing to the northward of New Zealand, and a change may be expected over the North Island after about thirty-six hours. Cool and changeable weather is probable generally, and showers in parts-the barometer falling in tho north, but fairly 6tcady in the south. A small area of low prossure has passed in the 60uth, with strong westerly and southerly winds and unsettled weather. Conditions havo been fair to cloudy in the north, with showers in parts. May 6.—Eain fell last night and this morning, but cleared as the day wore on. It was, however, very cold. Peatherston, May 6.—Fine, but overcast and cold. Heavy showers fell on Sunday night. Hastings, May 6.—To-day has been dull and cold.
