ANNUAL TOUR OF INSPECTION.

The annual inspection of works going on in the borough and of the different points likely to mjuire attention in preparing the estimates, was paid by the Mayor and councillors of Miramar, and officials on Saturday. Tho outstanding feature of the visit was the evident growth of the varied activities which fiavo been entered upon. Commencing with the Venl'uri meter houso at tho city boundary at eleven o'clock, n. complete tour was made, concluding at about six o'clock. The four acres of reserve on the corner of which the mettr stands, was considered with a view to levelling and planting m the future. The proposed sites of the powerhouse on Broadway, and of the high level reservoir near the signal station, were next viewed, together with road construction on the wav to Scatomi. Here road formation, treatment of a surface water lagoon, further street lighting, ski wail, fire brsgaue station site, and other questions received attention. At Worser Bay, the reserve and sand drift were considered. Ihe progress of reserve plantations here, at lvaraku Bay, Soaloim Heigh!?, and various spots in Miramar proved satisfactory, in some 'cases especially so, councillors beins satisfied that considerable value attaches to this branch of the boroughs operations. Overton Park and Scorching B"ay Defence Heserve were taken next, the latter being a place where tree-planting would improve the appearance of the approach by steamer to Wellington. The hnights abovo Karaka Bay and Worser Bay and the roads of North Miramar followed, with the object of road improvement and formation of footpaths. The formation of Miramar Quay, the Evans Bay storm water outfall, with the completion of the fine traffic wharf nnd rails therefrom, and asphalt footpaths, have transformed this part of Miramar. The visits terminated with an inspection of the ejector station at Devonshire Itoad. The evidences of municipal advance for the past year proved to bd very marked.
