NUMBER OF ASSAULT CASES. By TcicErapli—Press Association—CoDyrieht Cape Town, May 1. Sir T. W. Smartt, Leader of the South African Opposition, has given notico of a motion asking tho Government to consider tho appointment of a commission to cope with tho "black peril." Eighty-five assault cases by blacks were reported during the last twelve months, seventy-one offenders being brought to justice.
