TOUR IN THE SOUTH. - (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) '■ ' Christchurch, May 2. The Prime Minister (the Hon. Thos. Mackenzie) arrived in Christchurch this morning, on his first visit to the south since' his elevation to the Premiership. The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr. 11. Holland) met the Prime Minister at the railway station on the arrival of the boattrain; and cordially welcomed him to the city. The Prime Minister left for the south to-day by the mid-day express. He will; he met by a deputation at Temuka, and will then proceed to Oamaru, where he attends tho banquet tendered to the HonT. Y. Duncan this evening. To-mor-row he goes on to Dunedin, and on Saturday he will open the new post office and the new Coronation Park at lialelutha. At .lialelutha he is to be the guest at a dinner, and in the evening he will deliver a political address. On Monday he is to inspect some protective works at Balclutha, and on Tuesday he leaves for Southland. His movements in Southland are not yet definitely settled, but ho will attend a banquet to Mr. J. C. Thompson, M.P.',' on Tuesday evening. He intends to ?o to'tho Otauiau district, and*w;ill probably be entertained at a dinner in Otaiitan.

Mr.' Mackenzie will probably return north about May 10 or 11.
