SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for a. rising barometer everywhere, with strong westerly to winds, cold and changeable conditions, with showers in parts. Cool and changeable weather has been experienced generally, showers havo fallen in most parts of the country at times, and conditions have been squally in the northern and southernmost districts. (From Our Speoiaf Correspondents.) ■ Wanganui, May 2.—Gloomy weather; light showers; occasional sunshine; not eo cold as yesterday. I'eilding, Way 2—Fine cold day and night. Shannon, May 2.—There was a thunderstorm, accompanied by heavy rain, between 10 and 11 on Wednesday night. Thursday was fine and mild. Otaki, May 2.—Sunshine. Hastings, May 2.—The weather to-day has been bright and sunny. Carterton, May 2.—Heavy rain fell last night, but, cleared towards morning, and a beautiful day resulted. Featherston, May 2.—Bright fins day; cold N.W. breeze.
