Auckland, May 1. | An effort to bring the interests of the farmin" community 'into a sympathetic understanding with organised labour is indicated in n remit which is being sent by tho Auckland execulve of the Farmers Uiion to the annual conference of the union in the Auckland province. One of tho remits is that the conference should "express its desire to bring the J' armors Union into closer touch with the labour unions of the Dominion, with the object of bringing about a belter understanding between the various sections of (he community by mutual consideration ot the ncads'and aims of each section, believing that in this way tho cause of-much ol the unrest prevailing in the community may be removed." •Vnother remit having a bearing upon the industrial problem expresses alarm at the tendency of the present luga wages in the. cities to withdraw labour irpm agricultural pursuits and a recognition that the farming industry cannot pay the nnce«nry high wage to compete with other industries, so that so long as this stato of things exists the rural population cannot materially increase.
