May 1, 9.25 p.m.) Sydney, May 1. >'A terrific gas explosion occurred at Homebusb, which completely wrecked a newly-built shop. It shattered the windows in the neighbouring buildings, and seriously injured two men. ' The shop was occupied by Messrs. Riley and Compaiiy, estate agents. Hiley, juu., lii a: spirit lamp,-and almost immediately there was an explosion of gas, whioh it is purposed was leaking in the new pipes. The- whole building collapsed. Eiloy and .an assistant were buried in tho debris, , both being in a serious condition. A workman standing in front of the ahop was blown, acrose the road, but was practically uninjured.
