OUR OLYMPIC ATHLETES.

AND TEEIR EXPENSES. It appears probable -now that the two New Zealand members of the Australasian team to compete at tho fifth Olympiad at Stockholm will be ablo to go through with their trip and attend the games. A message has been received from the Auckland Committee by the Olympic Council in Wellington to tho effect that tho delay iu forwarding collections from Auckland lias been caused by the secretary being out of town, and that they will -end along their contribution lo\rards Hill's expenses as soon as possible. The Swimming Council, ivho<o headquarters are at Christchnrcli, nro making efforts to raiso tho money for Champion's trip, and they have written expressing satisfaction with tho action of the Olympic Council in sending their representative away. No funds aro coming forward from Otago. About a week ago an appeal was made through the Dunedin newspapers for support, but up till the present there has been no response forthcoming. Tho n-ssuronce from the Auckland Committee that they are sending Hill's expanses along, and from the Swimming Council that they hopo to got the money for Champion mokes it almost certain that Hill will be entered at Stockholm, and that Champion will very probably be a competitor. This is very "much more satisfactory than the outlook a few days ago, when the Olympic Council feared that they -would have to cancel both athletes' trips, and order the men to return from London.
