Giving evidence before tho Totnlisator Commission, tho secretary of the Orange Jockey Club said ho favoured the machine, and declared that ho know of instances where bookmakers took large bogus wagers in order to mislead the public. Bookmakers, rightly or wrongly, wcie supposed to control the jockeys, but this had never been satisfactorily proved.
