It consisted of five sheets, nntl concluded with the following- statement written iu pencil :— "My name has been trumpeted to the four corners of tho earth. 1 must livo my life; and so much tho worse/for an idiotic, imbscile society which, tries to prevent me." / There was feverish excitement in the city over the pursuit and arrest of Bonnot. Nearly a million special editions of newspapers were sold. Special trains were run carrying enormous crowds to tho scene of the siege. .Fifteen thousand people witnessed the operations for four hours.
