WAIRARAPA AND EAST COAST P. &. A. SOCIETY.

ANNUAL IMPORT. Following arc the chief features of the report of tho Wairanipa P. and A. .Society:— ;' Tlio show was marred to n great ostein by the weather. Our entries were not »p to those of (lie previous year's show in point of numbers, which was a reronl. Nevertheless, tho show receipts show a largo increase, which more than balances tho difference in entries. .Members number over GOO, but, your committee is confident that this number can be increased. Since the last show tho importance of covering the sheep pens has been brought before the committee, and after consideration it was decided to issue debentures in order to have the work carried out. Nearly all. the debentures were taken up by the committee, who would, however, have preferred to distribute them amongst all members interested. The plans for these pens have, been drawn up. Members have reason to feel proud of tho success of the last ploughing match, which (though held in bad weather) was largely attended, and brought out good competition. Through the generosity of various business men and farmers in the Wairarapa, wo were enabled to offer good prizes, and this no doubt contributed to the. success of the competition. It has been decided to hold the match this year on.May XI next, at Clareville, mv Mr. A. J. lieynolds's farm. The 'various challenge cups, rose bowls, and trophies offered each year were well competed for, and only one cup lias been won outright—the Quiball Cup, by Messrs. Nelson Bros. The dairying section was the feature of the last .show, and the cattle (particularly in Ayrshires) were as fine an exhibit as ever met on the show grounds. Your committee has fixed the date of the next show for October 23 and 2t.
