The Governor inspected the Territorial camp at YVhangarei on Saturday, and returned tho same evening to Auckland. To-day Lord Islington leavos for Hawke's Bay, returning to Auckland in ten days' time.—Press Association. The Prime Minister (tiro Hon. T. Mackenzie) will leave I'nr tho south either to-night or to-morrow night, lie will attend a banquet to the Hon. T. Y. Duncan at Oamaru on Thursday, and fulfil several engagements at Balclutha on Saturday, lie is due next Tuesday at Waiau, Southland, where ho will attend a social in honour of Mr. J. C. Thomson, .M.l'. The Hon. J. A. Ilanan, Minister for Education, has arranged to visit Masterton next Thursday. He will receivo a deputation in regard to the proposed Agricultural College in YVnirarapa, and open the new Assembly Hall. With four exceptions, the Ministers of the Crown wilt remain in Wellington today. Tho Hon. A. M. Myers is still at Auckland, tho Hon. G. W. Kussell is at Tarnwern, and 'tho Hon. T. Hiixlou at Temukn, The Hon. H. G. Ell leaves for Palmerston this morning.

Mr. James Mackenzie, Survcyor-Genoral, leaves next week for Melbourne to represent New Zealand at an important conference of Commonwealth und States Surveyors-General, to consider questions bearing on tho adoption of universal mapdrawing, remitted from Imperial and international conferences, tho issue of surveyors' licenses, examinations, etc., on common lines, as well as other matters of vital importance to tho profession in Australia and Ne* Zealand.

The Hon. To Rnngihiroa, member of tho Executive representing the Nativo race, will presido at the first meeting of tho Piongokako Maori Council, at Mosterton, on May 1.

The Hon. H. G. Ell, Postmaster-General, leaves this morning for Palmerston North, and will go on to Wanganui on Wednesday. On Friday afternoon, at the invitation of local residents, he will open tho now post office at Eengiwahia, and ho purposes returning to Wellington on Saturday next.

Mr. Georgo Hunter, M.P., is at present on a visit to Wellington.

Among tho visitors from Hawke's Bay at present in the city is Mr. E. Basil Jones, of Hastings.

Mr. Cecil W. Palmer, of the Navy League, left by the Maori last night on a .business trip to the south. The usual monthly meeting of flio Navy League has been postponed in consequence.

Mr. John Townley was yesterday elected chairman of the Gisborne Harbour Board for the 25th time in succession. This (states a Press Association message) is claimed to bo a record.

Mr. AV. F. Grace, general manager of the, Waihi Grand Junction Gold Mining Company, who loft Waihi on Thursday evening for Auckland, en route to England, was presented prior to his departure by the members of the stuff with a handsome travelling case.

The death is Announced of an old Wellington resident, Mr. Geo. Drury, for many years Deputy-Registrar-General. The. Into Mr. Drury had been ailing for some time, but his end came rather suddenly on Saturday morning. The cieccased, who was 61 years of age, was a son of the late Rev. G. Drury, Rector of Clnydon, Suffolk, and was educated at St. Mary's College, Harlow, Essex. He belonged to a, very old Suffolk family, and was a brother-in-law of the late Admiral C. B. Theobald, who visited New Zealand some years ago. The late Mr. Drury spent his early life at sea, and obtained his caj> tain's certificate when he was 23 years of age. Eventually he settled in Now Zealand, and ho joined the Civil Service 31 years ago, being associated with the late Captain Edwin. Later he joined tho Re-gistrar-General's Offico, and ht> was Dc-puty-Eegistrar-Gi'iiwai aL the time of his retirement from the service on account of ill-health a few years *go. Deceased, wha was a Past Grand Master of the Aorangi Masonic Lodge, leaves a widow, one son, Mr. G. R. Drury, of Sydney, and two daughters, Mrs. H. T. Wiltshire, of Kilbirnic, and Miss Drury. Tho funeral will take place at Karori this morning. The Rev. Archdeacon Harper will officiato at the graveside.
