THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Present indications are for strong westerly winds, veering to increasing southerlies- everywhere soon. Cold and stormy weather is probable generally. Heavy seas on the West Coast and in Cook and Forcaux Straits. Snow on higher levels, and rivers high on the West Coast. The barometer is due . to rise everywhere soon, and anticyclonic conditions follow. Much snow has fallen on higher levels in the south, and Saturday and Sunday particularly were, very cold and stormy. The weather has moderated considerably to-day, under the influence of a small westerly low pressure in the south, which is likely to-pass in-the night.
