A VETERAN NOVELIST.
What a wonderful woman Miss Brnddon is! At the ago of 7i (says an English writer) she is writing a new book. It is to be published in tiio autumn. She has written nearly 70 novels altogether. She has worked hard and diligently at her writing ever since she was 23. And still she goes 011. Iler "way up" was remarkably rapid. While still in her twenties she" was one of the most popular novelists of her day, and people hvere tumbling over ono another to buy her books. And, unlike so many people who-"go up like a rocket," she has not "come down like stick." Slio lias kept up. Miss BraddoiT herself puts .her talent down largely to hereditary influence. Hct father wroto a groat deal—did regular articles for the "Sporting Magazine." Her mother, though she did not write, was passionately fond of reading, had a very sound literary taste, and encouraged her daughter in all her attempt; at writing. Miss liraddou hardly remembers th& time when she did not write. Asa very small child she was always scribbling fairy tales and attempts atver-e.
