EARLY MARRIAGE IN JAPAN.

Aizan Yamaji, one of the most popular .writers in Japan, lias this to say about early (jiarriages:—"Young men and women should marry as early as possible; tlicy ought not to pay any attention to the argument, in fashion.- of late, that they should remain single until they aro prepared to lead a comfortable life after marriage. It is far better that they marry before they lose their youth, and bo armed with the soothing power of their mutual love to work out a career in the world. "Sonio people may criticise tjjis statement as thoughtless counsel for too early marriages, but oven this sort of marriage is better than one .without love, such as is likely to be that of a man who has wasted years in preparation and calculation with' a woman long past her youth. We often meet a .young couple, who were forced to suffer many privations when they were first married, who gradually and steadily worked their way to a success far greater than that achieved by the bachelor who had scoffed at their early marriage. "She is not a very noble-hearted woman who seeks only an easy and luxurious life after marriage. A true woman will probably prefer to marry a man whom sho loves, and to comfort and encourago him in his work, ever ready to share with him either the bitterness *of defeat or the laurels of victory." It is now possible to form a. general idea of the appearance that will be presented by the grounds and interior of the buildings at Earl's Court, 011 Mav 11. "Shakespeare's England" is opened 'to the public. Already scores of Elizabethan houses are in course of erection. Near the Warwick Boad entrance is a facsimile ,of Hardwiek Hall, where the famous "Bess of Hardwiek" kept Mary Queen of ScoN so long a prisoner. Inside the Ducal' Hull is a network of quaint little Elizabethan streets, and it is inside some of the houses 011 either side of these streets that will be displayed the exhibits of leading bushier firms. Thete will also be such historic sixteenth century buildings as Ledbury Hall, the Coventry Almshouses, the' old Holborn houses, Exeter Town Hall, and a famous Elizabethan church, to name only 0110 or two. Practically every houso ivill bo a model of some famous sixteenth-cen-tury building.
