PROCEEDINGS STILL DULL Ail extremoly dull mnrkcE has again been experienced at the Blair and Allen Street stands during the week. There aro still good'supplies of apples and pears, prices for both lines being very low. The supply of tomatoes has fallen 'away considerably in volume, and prices have improved in conscqueuce. The Melbourne steamer brought a small shipment of Alildura lemons ami about fifty boxes of South Australian grapes. The grapes opened up in only fair condition, and realised from 10;. to Us. per box. Mildura lemons quitted at from 13s. to 17s. per case. A few cases of pasi sion fruit and pine apples came forward, ex the Sydney steamer, oil AYednesdav, Queensland • pines selling at 10s. to lis. The passion fruit were mostly small and inferior, and hardly realised "charges. The Tahiti, from Harotonga, was duo last night, and her consignments of oranges and bananns should reach nn excellent market. The market is well sup. plied with local pears, extra choice lots selling at ss. 6d. to 75., but the bulk only bringing 3s. to ss. There is a poor demand for apples, except a few choice Cox's Orange pippins and first-grade Jonathans. These lines are worth from ss. 6d. to 7s. Gd. per case, but all other lines are selling at from 3s. to 4s. Gd. There is a moderate demand for quinces at 3s. Gd. to Is. Choice local hothouse grapes arc worth lOd. to Is. Id. per lb., but an extra choice sample from Xelson realised Is. 3}d. yesterday. Only small lots of tomatoes are now coming in, and values' for these rule at from to 7s. per half-case. C'ape gooseberries are in good demand at 4d. to 4{d. per lb. Cucumbers sold yesterday at 7s. to 9s. per banana case. Vegetables are fairly plentiful, and values for most lines are low, an exception being first-grade cauliflowers, which have advanced during the past lew days. Yesterday from Bs. to lis. was received. In the early part of the week cabbages sold at Gtl. to Is. per sack. Several lines sold yesterday ns high as 2s.- 9d. per sack. Carrots are plentiful at 3s. to 4s. per sack, celery is worth 3s. Oo 4s. per dozen heads, and frencli beans are selling at ss. Gd. to 7s. Gd. per quarter sack. Choice samples of green peas are in excellent request at 10s. to 16s. per half-sack. Other prices are:—llorso radish, 3d. lb.; lettuce, Is. to 2s. Gd. case; marrows, 2s. Gd. to 3s. sack; pumpkins, 3s. to 4s. sack; parsnips, 3s. to 4s. sack; pie-melons, 4s. to ss. sack; swedes, 2s. 3d. to 2s. Gd. cwt., turnips, Is. Gd. to 2s. Gd. sack; local onions, 9s. to 10s. cwt.; best up-to-date potatoes, free from blight, Gs. Gd. to 7s. cwt.; walnuts, 4?d. to 5Jd. lb.; spinach, Is. Gd. to 2s. Gd. case; garlick, ss. cwt. (poor demand); violets,. Is. to Is. Gd. per dozen bunches. Fresli eggs are worth Is. lOd. per dozen, and preserved ougs Is. 2d. Poultry values are still low, hens being worth 2s. 3d to 2s. Gd. per pair; young roosters, 2s. 9d. to 3s. 3d.; and ducks, 3s. Gd. to 4s. Gd.
