THE LITTLE OWL.
Sir,—The enclosed cutting is taken from the English "Daily News" of March 14 last, and it makes one think if, in acclimatising this owl to Mew Zealand we are doing a wise thing:— A Feathered Outlaw. At ths Huntingdonshire County Council yesterday it was announced that Iho Secretary of State had consented to an application for removing from the list of protected birds the little owl. These birds were introduced into Northamptonshire a number of years ago by tlie late Lord I.iiford, and have since multiplied so enormously as to become a serious nuisance. This r-peoioi nf owl preys upon young game, ami is very destructive lo young poultry. I am, etc., rMEBESTEI). GiojWjtCj Aj?ril Si, UUL
