The short titlo of this Bylaw is "The Wellington City By-law, No. • 14 (Butchers' Shops), 1912." ; The object and purport of such By-law-arc To prescribe tho method of eonstruc- ' tion of the front and walls of butchers' ' shops and for the cleanliness of same. To 1 provide for the disposal of waste refuse and dirt from such butchers' shops, and to prevent nuisances arising therein; to prohibit butchers' shops directly communicating with sleeping chambers, privies, and similar premises; to prescribo tho clothing of shopmen aud persons delivering meat and carcass meat-carriers, and to provide for tho cleanliness of same. To prevent persons suffering from infectious or eruptive disease engaging in meat trade; to provide for tho cleanliness of vehicles and baskets used for the transport or delivery of meat, and to prevent 1 tho contamination of meat in same; and to regulate the storage of meat in butchers' shops. To prescribe in what premises meat intended for sale for human consumption may be stored, and to provide for tho cleanliness of such premises and ' ail utensils used therein; to prohibit persons from smoking or spitting whilst in butchers' shops, in promises where meat i is stored, or whilst engaged in tho transport or delivery of meat; to prescribo that all butchers' shops and premises used for the storage of meat intended for sale for human consumption shall be made rat-proof; and to prohibit the entrance of dogs into same. Town Hall, Cuba Street, Wellington, at 7.30 p.m., when the date on which the said By-law will como into force will be fixed. A full copy of the By-law is deposited at the office of tho Town Clerk to tho said Council at the Town Hall, Cuba Street, and may be inspected there by all 1 persons during the ordinary office hours.
