In muring the adoption of the annual report, the chairman congratulated members oil tlio .sik.tc.s3 oi the year's operations, and referred in complimentary terms to the work of Mr. 'J l . Sampson as referee. Ho also referred to the difficulty that would probably have to be overcome if they were to secure the use of the Town Hall for boxing contests. If thpy returned a wowser council there was no telling what might happen. It therefore behoved all members of the Boxing Association to take a keen interest in municipal politics. Mr. 1!. W. Mr. \V. Ucauchainp-Plnlts said that if the amateur contests had not been a success it was not the iault ot the ccmmittee. He did not think that amateur boxing would erer reach the proper standard until the association secured some sort of club rooms where they could hold occasional tourneys. -Mr. J'latts then referred to the movement that had been last rear set on foot for the formation of a club, and of which details have 1 )1C " viously been published. This had (alien through because of file lack of enfluisip ; ->iii among members uf the association. ..lie committee, however, had now in \ u ' w another scheme, whereby they could 1 lirchase n section in the suburbs am erect a suitable building with i bath and dre-sing-rooni, at a eo=t of .CIODO, and the interest oil this sum would not amount to anything more than a. moderate rental. Unless tliev did something ot that soit to thoroughly encourage the amaleur ot the bona-fide type, they were Ruijig to hare a very poor class of amateur boxei. Mr. E. Blundell endorsed the remarks of the previous speaker. He deprecated tho lack of interest shown .by many members who appeared to join foi tlio sate of being able to attend the ass.Delations tournaments 011 payment ot tho annual subscription. Members were, lw«"ev": to be congratulated on tho naj they hail attended the annual meeting. Air. Sampson expressed the opinion that otl'ier associations secured tho amateurs, because they did not keep, within he limits of the rules in allotting tioplin , and because they were liberal with K''Messrs. M'Villv and Fordham both staled that as long as they were connected with the Wellington Association the amateur rules would have to bo ob>er\ cd. Several oilier members also spoko durinsr the discission. . The election of officers resulted as 10lWs—Patrflii, Sir. Joseph AVard; .me-i----dent, Dr. A. W l/.nnl;vieiMirosid™>, l)r. H. J. M Lean.
