The Tahiti, en route from San Francisco, via- the Islands, to Wellington, advises by wireless that, she espects to arrive hero at 6 o'clock this evening, ho vessel v.ill probably berth an hour later at the Queen's Wharf. VICTORIA ARRIVES TO-DAY. Unfavourable weather has caused delay to the Huddart-Parlter Company's steamer Victoria at Lytlelton. Diion. AORAXGI FROM SYDNEI'. About 11 o'clock yesterday mornirj;, R.M.S. Aorangi, from Sydney direct, berthed at the Queen's Wharf. The vessel left tho New South Wales port at 4 p.m. cm Saturday, tho weather being then line but threatening. On Sunday morning, April 20, the wind freshened, the sea, became somewhat choppy, and tho evening of the following day saw a heavy south-east gale, accompanied with fierce rain s<itia!lp, and a heavy head sea.- These conditions continued until 6 a.m. on April 24, when the wind gradually decreased, and veered round to tho south-west, but decreased in force as the New Zealand coast was approached. Captain W. Stevens is in charge of the vessel, and has associated with him the following officers:-Chief, Mr. E. N. Hall; second, Mr. A. V. Itiuharrison; third, Mr. J S. Dee; chief engineer, Mr. R. ARAWA LEAVES CAPE TOWN. The local agents of the Shaw-So.vill Line havo received advice that the Arawa left Cape Town, in continuation c-f her voyage to Now Zealand, on Saturday afternoon last. The vessel is duo to arrive at Wellington on May 14.
REPAIRS TO CLA.V OGILVT. The contract for the repairs to the damaged shaft of .the Clan Ogilvy has beon let to Messrs. \V. Cable and Co., of Wellington. A new steamer, the Karamu. of the "K" class of vessel belonging to the Union Company, was launched on April 18 at Sunderland. Tho Karamu is ii steamer of 800 tons register, and will be ready to sail shortly for Xew Zealand, where she will be engaged in the Union Company's coastal trade. The new vessel (says the "Otnuo Daily Times") takes her name from the Karamu tree, ond the other new vessel which was launched c, couple of weeks ago has been named Katoa, a comprehensive Maori term signifying "all, everything. NOTICE TO MARINERS. Yesterday's Gazette contained the following notice to mariners:—Picton Harbour, wharf light—Notice is given that on and after Holiday, April 29, 1912, n green light will be exhibited from the end of the railway wharf now under construction on Hie western shore of tho harbour. The piledriver which is now moored at the end of tho wharf, and which carries a white light, will then bo taken away.
