AORANGI'S ROUGH TRIP.
Yesterday morning; the U.S.S. Co.'i steamer Aorangi arrived at Wellington from Sydney direct, Soon nftgr, her arrival one of her crew, Sir. Donald M'Phco (carpenter), was removed' to the hospital suffering from an injury to the thigh. Not long after clearing Sydney Heads, the vessel ran into a slight head swell, with a light S.K. breeze prevailing, and weather conditions generally were somewhat threatening. On Sunday morning—the day following her departure from the New South Wales port— the wind freshened, and the sea beeamo choppy, ami by Monday evening a heavy S.K. gale, with heavy head seas, was raging, flain fell in fierce squalls. It was at this sfago of tire journey that the accident referred to happened. It appears that the whole of the watch were up on tlio forecastle making gear fast, when the vessel- appeared to .-dive into a big sea. ' It came with such forco as to knock two of the men against the anchor, one receiving slight injuries to tho logs, and tlio other to the thigh. ■Besides injuring the two seamen, a good, deal of steel liiping and casings were, carried away. , The gale lasted mini Wednesday morning.
