1 SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for misty and stormy weather generally, with heavy rain and rivers flooded in many parts of the country. High northerly winds veering by west to southerly soon, northward of East Cape and Kawhia, and easterly to southerly strong to gale elsewhere. Storm warnings extended to-day to the East Coast of tho South Island. Tho barometer will probably rise everywhere after ten to 6ixtoen hours. An os-troplcal cyclonic disturbance has brought heavy rain and easterly gales over tho northern districts, the disturbance is apparently travelling down the West Coast of the North Island, with lowest pressure of about 29.2 inches near Cape Egmont, and rain and mist are spreading everywhere. Wanganui, April 23.—Heavy warm rain prevailed for the greater part of the day, with indications of continuing. Palmerston, April 23.—Itaining. Feilding, April 23.—Solid rain all day, and more threatening this evening. Otaki, April 23.—Showery. Shannon, April 23—Very wet and windy. Featherston, April 23.—Light rain. Grcytown, April 23.—The weather has been fino for 6ome days, but rain pat In to-day. Carterton, April 23.—Rain Bet in here this morning, and indications are that it will continue. Jlasterton, April 23.—Heavy ram fell here this afternoon, and shows every indication of continuing. Hastings, April 23—Rain commenced to fall early this morning, and has continued all day.
