MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Joseph Klaas was charged with deserting the steamer Sussex on April 17. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment. If the vessel leaves New Zealand before the term of imprisonment has expired, Klaas will be placed on board. George .Joseph Callan and Robert Lemon pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking the peaco of Taranaki Street by using threatening behaviour. They were each fined Jil. Joseph Fitch was fined iC3 for breaking a prohibition order.
